Scene 1: High, windswept cliffs just north of Stormwind. The sun is setting. A Monk and a Hunter stare out over The Great Sea. The Hunter is sobbing, her pet disconsolate by her side. The Monk clasps her shoulder, his head bowed. “Where is he?” she cries to the uncaring Sea. “Where has he gone?”
The Monk raises his chin, then his fist in defiance against the setting sun. “He is lost, he cannot find his way. We must help him. We will light The Beacon!”
The hunter gasps, “The Beacon? After all these years? Will it still work?”
The Monk’s eyes turn to gray steel as he declares: “It will. It must.”
Scene 2: Stormwind Cathedral. Perched in Crane Stance atop the tallest spire, the Monk’s voice, enhanced by arcane magic shouts, “Let it begin!” Gliders unfold as the Monk and the Hunter leap from the spire, shrieking their battle cry. “Join us! We go forth to light the beacon!” The citizens look up at the spectacle, first cowering in fear, then with hope, as understanding dawns. Archbishop Benedictus is the first to join, then the ragtag passel of orphans and their Matron. The entire Brawler’s Guild pours out of the tram, leaping and bounding to swell the ranks as the parade heads north out of the gates of the Dwarven District. As they pop through the portal to Uldum, they are joined by Bertnor, Spencer, Jules the Glittery, and Dairies the Glum. In Uldum, they take to the skies where they are joined by all of The Casuals, Iron Deficiency, and Working as Intended, present and past. They head south as a flock of forty Priests from OpenRaid swoop in, cackling and life-gripping with glee. All of CTR folds in, Zhug at the con. In their thousands, they descend upon the The Vortex Pinnacle, howling and yowling, their blood boiling. They sweep through the trash and plow over bosses, rampaging over the bridges, through the clouds, and up to the very Skywall itself.
Scene 3: Silence descends upon the gathering, and a Monk and a Hunter step forth to the Obelisk of the Sun. “It is time,” the Hunter announces as the Monk places his palms on the very stone. Every arm is raised as if in supplication, fingers stretching to the sky, hearts quaking with awe and anticipation. Suddenly, shockingly, a beam of pure golden light shoots out from the apex. Out through the atmosphere, on through the endless void of space, straight to the sun. And there, in letters hundreds of miles tall, the light splits and etches. As the sun’s rays return to Azeroth, the letters spell out clearly, hugely, on the planet’s face: “HOME”.
Scene 4: Sunwell Plateau. The Monk and the Hunter gaze out across the sparkling emerald lawns, rife with topiaries and songbirds. The glowing golds and vibrant oranges reflect the rising sun and embrace the far-flung bridges and buttresses in a shimmering nimbus. Degu capers gleefully, frolicking with Chi-Chi and Firewing as they dive and swoop in the crystal breeze. Prema clasps Ayr’s shoulder, grinning. “Soon, my friend, soon.”
