Just had a chance to sit down for a bit and compile research on which Oceanic server to move to. I was initially thinking Saurfang but after finding some more info, now I think Aman'thul.
Aims:
* PvE
* Alliance
* High Alliance population
* Good raid progress
** In terms of evaluating merged realms, alliance pop and raid progress could be misleading if you just add a+b if there is a flood of returning wow players and wow decide to un-merge the realms. Hence I have a minor preference to go for a non merged realm.
I am trying to ensure this decision is right in the long term as we have some members who cannot afford for me to pick the wrong home. Would love any support/feedback.
So the choice comes down to (table from wowprogress)
Realm Type Lang Score Population* Horde* Alliance*
Khaz'goroth PvE en (oc) 10450 7042 3197 3845
Caelestrasz PvE en (oc) 11150 4854 1983 2871
Saurfang PvE en (oc) 11116 6790 3247 3543
Aman'Thul PvE en (oc) 9033 6395 1683 4712
Dath'Remar PvE en (oc) 8766 4435 1474 2961
Nagrand PvE en (oc) 8500 5456 2602 2854
* Population - amount of unique players that meet any of the two conditions:
- has a level 90 character that killed something in Tier 16 Normal
- has a level 90 character in a guild that killed something in Tier 16 Normal

Khaz and Dath are merged realms
Cael and Nagrand are merged realms
I am using T16 server progress (combined horde and alliance) as a indicator of how healthy the alliance raiding pop is on that server. I am unaware of any tool to track faction specific progress on a server scale.
Top three results for "progress score" and "alliance pop" are highlighted green.
If you exclude merged realms, the only server which is green for both is Saurfang.
Of note, Aman'Thul has a large lead on number of unique alliance players.
Other resources:
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/15007210610This is a post by an individual yesterday who says he counted the number of Top 100 Oceanic guilds in each server by faction (I assume top 100 is H Garrosh kills in order of occurrence). So listing alliance PvE only
Caelestrasz/Nagrand = 5
Aman'thul = 4
Khazgoroth-Dath'Remar = 4
Saurfang = 2
So assuming this info is correct......
My take home from this is the progress table above is skewed by horde performance, ie Saurfang horde had 6 top 100 guilds.
Perhaps Aman'thul would be a better option?

https://realmpop.com/us-saurfang.htmlhttp://www.worldofwargraphs.com/statspve.htmlhttp://www.worldofwargraphs.com/statspv ... 0-0-0.htmlLists players 6/14H in T16 (I assume this is old heroic so Mythic)
Aman'thul rank 117 with 390 players meeting criteria
Saurfang rank 262 with 175 players meeting criteria
Again data can be biased as does not separate horde and alliance
So, I am leaning toward Aman'thul, what do you guys think?
